• Always keep your hair dry in the shower if you don't shampoo. You can wear a shower cap to keep your color-treated hair from getting wet while showering as this can cause some color to fade. Or, pull your hair up into a loose bun or a ponytail to protect it from getting wet.

"Did I say anything uncomfortable?" "Did I spill something?" There's a possibilty that our words exposed some deep subconscious longing of which we are normally unaware. 

This is what you call sleep talking. Sleep talking, or somniloquy, is the act of speaking during sleep as the name states. It's a type of parasomnia, an abnormal behavior that takes place during sleep. It's a very common and is not typically considered a medical problem.

The nighttime chatter or rant may be harmless, or it could be graphic, even rated. Sometimes, listeners find the content unpleasant or vulgar. Sleep talkers usually speak for no more than 30 seconds per episode but some people sleep talk many times during a night.

The late-night diatribes may be remarkably expressive, or the words may be muttered and hard to decode. Sleep talking may engage simple sounds or long, involved speeches. Sleep talkers usually seem to be talking to themselves or so. But at times, they appear to carry on conversations with others if the listeners try to talk to them. They may speak softly or they might shout. 

There is no identified way to lessen sleep talking. Avoiding anxiety, stress and getting plenty of sleep might help you. Also, keeping a sleep diary can help classify your sleep patterns and may help your doctor find out if an underlying problem is causing your sleep talking or if it is just due to lack of sleep. Keep a sleep diary for two weeks and note the times you go to bed or when you think you fell asleep, and when you woke up. You'll also want to write down the medicines you take, and the time of day you take them, what you drink each day and when, especially caffeinated drinks such as cola, tea, and coffee, as well as alcohol and when you exercise.

The persistent, irrational fears of certain objects or situations is called Phobia. Phobias occur in several forms; the fear associated with a phobia can focus on a particular object or be a fear of embarrassment in a public setting. Majority of fears are learned or are brought by accidental scenarios except for a few fears such as the fear of falling, the fear of loud noises and the fear of objects moving towards us. Individuals with a phobia go to great lengths to avoid a perceived danger which is much greater in their minds than in real life.

People avoid their feared objects or situations often because they are overwhelmed by their phobias so much. Fear of an object or situation, such as small animals, snakes, closed-in spaces or flying in an airplane are included in a Specific Phobia. 

The fear of being humiliated in a social setting, such as when meeting new people, giving a speech, or talking to the boss are included in Social Phobia. Nearly everyone experiences these fears with mild to moderate intensity, and the fear passes. For people with this type of phobia, however, the fear is extremely disturbing and can interrupt normal life, interfere with work or social relationships in varying degrees of severity. People with social phobia may also have problems with substance cruelty. Many people become so anxious that they experience panic attacks, which are intense and unexpected bursts of terror accompanied by physical symptoms.

Fortunately, through research effective treatments have been developed to help people with phobias. Although most mental health professionals consider phobia that begins in childhood to be a benign disorder, it can last for years if left untreated. Some studies indicate, however, that phobia does not become worse and usually diminishes as an individual ages. Without treatment, the prognosis is poor for an individual who has several phobias. Sadness is not usually valued in our current culture. Self-help books promote the benefits of positive thinking, positive attitude, and positive behaviors, labeling sadness as a “problem emotion” that needs to be kept at bay or eliminated. 

Sadness can improve interactions, in some cases. In general, happiness increases positive interactions between people. Happy people are more poised, assertive, and skillful communicators; they smile more, and they are generally perceived as more likable than sad people.

However, in situations where a more cautious, less assertive and more attentive communication style may be called for, a sad mood may help. In one study, participants who first viewed happy or sad films were unexpectedly asked to go and request a file from a person in a neighboring office. Their requests were surreptitiously recorded by a concealed tape recorder. Analyses showed that the sad mood produced more polite, elaborate, and hedging requests, whereas those in a happy mood used more direct and less polite strategies.

Sadness can fill us with appreciation for the good we've lost. It can help us treasure the good we haven't. It can make us more tender. It can make us more empathetic and compassionate toward others who've gone through or are going through what we are. It can connect us to others by signalling we need their support. It can incline us to give support to others who've supported us. It can fill us with appreciation for the times we don't feel sad.

Even though your judgment may be more reliable, you won't be as quick to judge others. Researchers believe this is because sadness may trigger something in the part of the brain that makes people more civil and understanding. You'll be a lot more comfortable off that high horse this way. 

Although we're giving positive facts to take away from being down and out, which range from being more appreciative to having better judgement, there are other ways to cope with sadness directly, like a girls' night, filled with binge eating pizza and cheap wine. Hypocalcemia is an electrolyte imbalance and is indicated by a low level of calcium in the blood.  The normal adult value for calcium is 4.5-5.5 mEq/L. Calcium is important for healthy bones and teeth, as well as for normal muscle and nerve function.  Normal blood calcium levels are maintained through the actions of  parathyroid hormone (PTH), your kidneys and intestines. If your blood test results show hypocalcemia, your doctor may check your albumin level as well.  If your albumin is low, your calcium level should be corrected for this.  A corrected calcium level will be higher if the albumin is low.

Neurological Impairment. A low blood calcium level can affect the functions of the nervous system and result in mental confusion, memory loss, hallucinations and delusions, according to Merck. Some people may also seem depressed. These symptoms will immediately cease if blood calcium levels are increased.

Impaired Movement. Hypocalcemia can also cause changes in body movement, including muscle twitches and body tremors, Merck notes. When calcium levels drop dangerously low, muscle spasms can occur. In some cases, throat muscles can spasm, causing difficulty breathing. Newborn babies with low calcium levels may appear jittery, twitchy, or lethargic, according to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Seizures. Too-low calcium levels can also trigger seizures, Merck reports. Both babies and adults suffering from hypocalcemia are at risk of seizures because of the condition.

Sense of Touch. A person's sense of touch can be impaired by low blood calcium levels. Some people may feel as though the skin is tingling, burning, or is numb. This is most often felt in the fingers, feet, lips and tongue, Merck explains.

Heart Rhythm. Low calcium levels can lead to abnormal heart rhythms, according to Merck. As with other symptoms, you should see your doctor if you experience an abnormal heartbeat.

Calcium supplements, given by mouth, are often all that is needed to treat hypocalcemia. If a cause is identified, treating the disorder causing hypocalcemia or changing drugs may restore the calcium level. Once symptoms appear, calcium is usually given intravenously. Taking vitamin D supplements helps increase the absorption of calcium from the digestive tract.

There are many benefits to playing golf, not the least of which is being outside breathing clean air and taking part in a physical activity for four hours on a beautiful day. While nobody is going to confuse playing golf with having the exercise value of playing basketball or running, it is a beneficial physical activity made even more beneficial when the player walks 18 holes instead of taking a cart.

Physical exercise. The greatest physical benefit to playing golf is getting exercise from walking. Walking for 18 holes is often the equivalent of walking 3-to-4 miles. This gets the golfer's heart going and blood pumping. It is a stimulating if not rigorous activity. Golfer who play three or four times a week are getting quite a bit of exercise.

Live longer. A Swedish study on the health benefits of golf has found that people who play the game on a regular basis have a 40% decreased mortality rate among their peers which equals a 5 year increase in life expectancy. Unfortunately, their scores typically get worse which means that their final years are filled with misery and frustration.

Sleep better. Getting regular daytime exercise such as playing golf often means a person will fall asleep faster and remain in a deep sleep for a longer period of time. Unfortunately, a golfer achieves this sleep in the middle of the afternoon because he typically tees off at 5:30 AM.

“It allows you to maintain a channel of activity to be passionate about,” Rosella said. “I believe personally that having passions in life outside your core profession is healthy. Golf provides a non-professional channel for me that I can be focused on that makes me happy, relaxed and a more balanced person.”

Strengthens the bladder. This one is a bit surprising but it certainly deserves noting. Those frequent visits to your friendly course beer-cart girl can give your bladder a run for time. The longer you learn to hold it, the more you strengthen the capacity of your bladder.
